Tips for Success

There are only 5 tips for success in this classroom. Follow these and you’ll be on your way to success in class!

  1. Be Respectful. This means be respectful to your classmates, me, any guests and any inanimate object in the classroom. Respectful behaviors include, but are not limited to: treat others as you wish to be treated, give
classmates an opportunity to speak and think, listen to others’ points of view, be patient with classmates who think more slowly than you do, keep your hands to yourself and calmly wait to be called on; do not blurt out answers. This also means not touching the teacher or your classmates, or the teacher's or your classmates' belongings. We also do not eat in the classroom.
  2. Be Kind. This means treat others the way you would like to be treated. Each day, bring your heart full of          goodness and usefulness and a desire to be helpful to our academic community. We are all in this together!
  3. Be on time. A respectful student comes to class on time. Trust me - you want to be on time for class.
  4. Be prepared and ready to learn. I trust that you will come to class with everything you need for class. I trust that you will come with a positive attitude and be ready to learn and participate.  Since you are heading to high school next year, I expect the behavior of a conscientious student.
  5. Ask questions. If there is something you don’t understand, ask. No one knows everything about everything so embrace curiosity. Ask if you don't understand. Asking questions leads to understanding. This is a place to learn and grow intellectually, which you can’t do unless you ask questions. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

Remember - I am here to help you learn and grow. If you need anything, don't hesitate to come to me and we can see if we can figure things out.  I'm serious...I am here to help you.
