Dear Students and Parents,

In this cycle class, students will learn and practice good public speaking.  Through games, videos, exercises, and speeches, students will learn the essential elements of a well-presented speech.  Students will practice these skills in 4 -5 speeches over the 7 week cycle.  Speeches will include:

1.  Classmate Interview

Students interview and introduce another classmate

2.  Pet Peeve

Students practice poise, voice, life, and speed when writing and presenting a speech on their "Pet Peeve".

3.  Life Project - students prepare a monolog tobring a character to LIFE

4.  Final Project

Students pick a topic to delever to the class with perfect poise, voice, life, eye cotact, gestures, and speed.  This fianl project is worth 200 points.  

 

Student will have the option of doing a preliminary TED Talk as their final project.  

All speeches are recorded on WeVideo and students keep a recording of their own speech.  They use this recording to self-assess strengths and weaknesses and to set future goals.
