PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADING DESCRIPTION |

PREPARATION |
Student is dressed in appropriate physical education attire, is on time for class, is located in assigned attendance location, and has their assigned lock for class each day. |

PARTICIPATION |
Student is engaged in the lesson, actively participating at a high level, and is helping to create a positive learning environment.

SPORTSMANSHIP |
Student is kind and positive with classmates/teammates, follows safety procedures and rules of the game, and demonstrates appropriate language and game etiquette.

FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS |
Student is listening when teacher is talking, understands classroom objectives Student can demonstrate appropriate actions and attempts to perform skill based activities correctly. |

Each of the above areas will be graded each day for a total of 10 earned points per day. The total score will be broken down as seen in the last column and will equal a total of 100%. |

LOCKER ROOM RULES
BE ON TIME-(LATE OUT OF LOCKER ROOM) STUDENTS MUST BE IN AND OUT OF THE LOCKER ROOM ON TIME. STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT OUT OF THE LOCKER ROOM ON TIME WILL BE ISSUED A LATE. 3 LATES WILL RESULT IN A LUNCH DETENTION.
NO TALKING IN THE LOCKER ROOM- THOSE WHO ARE TALKING WILL BE ISSUED A LUNCH DETENTION/NO WARNINGS!!!
LOCKER/LOCK CHECKS- LOCKER CHECKS WILL BE COMPLETED EVERY FRIDAY BEFORE OR AFTER CLASS. STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR ASSIGNED LOCK ATTACHED TO THEIR ASSIGNED LOCKER.

Physical Ed. Grading Policy
There are unlimited possibilities for our students in the Physical Education Program. There is enjoyment as well as the opportunity to improve and grow in the areas of strength, speed, agility, endurance and coordination. Most important is for students to enjoy themselves while reaching a new level of fitness and performance. For the health and safety of all, the following guidelines have been established.
1. Students will receive lockers and locks. Students must bring in gym clothes and lock their gym clothes in their locker after every class. Clothes that are found not in a locker will be placed in the lost and found inside the locker room. Students are responsible for the belongings brought into the locker room, make sure to lock your locker and put your gym clothes back in your locker after every class.
FOR PROTECTION OF VALUABLES, STUDENTS MUST USE THE LOCK PROVIDED by WMS FOR THEIR LOCKER.
STUDENTS MUST CHANGE OUT OF THEIR STREET CLOTHING INTO APPROPRIATE PE ATTIRE
2. The following items are appropriate dress for Physical Education class.
a. Sneakers (no elevated, hard soled, backless, roller sneakers).
b. Socks.
c. Loose fitting athletic tee-shirt with a short or long sleeve (No buttons, collars, zippers, tank tops, sleeveless or tight fitting shirts), or a sweatshirt.
d. Athletic shorts of at least fingertip length or sweat pants. (No jeans, cut offs, cargo pants).
ALL CLOTHING MUST BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH BOARD OF EDUCATION DRESS CODE. MISSING ANY ONE ITEM WILL BE CONSIDERED UNPREPARED.
3. STUDENTS ARE NOT TO SHARE THEIR LOCKERS or COMBINATION WITH OTHER STUDENTS AND MUST LOCK THEIR LOCKER EVERY TIME THEY LEAVE THE LOCKER ROOM.
4. Physical Education Participation Excuses per Board of Education Policy.
a. Parent's note is required to excuse a student up to two days and must be dated for each day.
b. A written doctor's note is required to excuse a student from an activity for more than two days. The note should indicate the specific dates a student is to be excused from Physical Education. If a doctor's note is not dated, the student will need an additional note from the doctor for re-entry into class.
BEHAVIORS WHICH WILL RESULT IN LUNCH AND AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION
1. GUM CHEWING - NO GUM ALLOWED IN GYM!!
a. 1st offense: Warning
b. 2nd offense: Lunch detention
c. 3rd and subsequent offenses: After school detention
2. TARDY TO CLASS
Students are to be in locker room four minutes after dismissal of previous class. Students are to be out of locker room, changed into PE attire, within four minutes of start of class period. Students are to use locker room bathroom during this time.
a. 1st offense: Warning
b. 2nd offense: Lunch detention
c. 3rd offense: After school detention.
