This page will help you keep track of what your child is learning throughout each subject area as we progress through the school year.  Please note that these topics are flexible and based on student understanding. Therefore, some topics may be reinforced for longer or shorter amounts of time.

Math

• Multiplication and various strategies for multiplying
• Division and various strategies for dividing
• Fast Fact Quizzes

Reading

• Unit 2: Strategy development in areas like questioning, visualizing, making connections, making inferences, determining importance, summarizing, and synthesizing. Students will also increase their independent reading abilities and begin to work in small groups with teachers.
• Unit 3: Focus on Fiction

Word Study

• Unit 2: Polysyllabic words, prefixes, suffixes, and the "schwa." Students will also gain more knowledge about morphemic transformations, figurative language, and synonyms.
• Unit 3: Comparative and superlative suffixes and suffixes that mean "a person who." The students will review and learn prefixes in the "not" prefixes family and prefixes that mean "before."

Writing

• Unit 3: Personal Narratives
