Absences
Absences
Each and every day your child will be absent, please call the absence line( this line is open 24 hours/day 7 days/week). Please leave the name of the child, the teacher's name and the reason for the absence. Please make calls before 9:15 a.m. If you are going on a planned vacation, call once and leave the days your child will be absent. All homework requests need to be called to the main office. When calling in an absence for illness, please tell me the symptoms your child has. This is especially important during flu season. I submit a report of influenza-like illnesses to the County Department of Health weekly.
If your child has been absent due to a contagious illness (strep throat, pink eye, etc), please let me know so I can send out notices to that classroom. A child should be on antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Your child may return to school if they are fever free for 24 hours without being on Tylenol or Advil. In addition, if your child has had nausea, vomiting or diarrhea in the morning, evening, or during the night, please keep them home for 24 hours until symptoms are gone and they are back to eating regular food. Lastly, if your child is coughing, sneezing or blowing their nose frequently, please keep he/she home. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the classroom healthy.
