The Girls Basketball closed out their regular season on Friday with a narrow loss vs top ranked Hillsborough by a score of 42-40. The girls showed grit and determination battling back from an 11 point halftime deficit, holding Hillsborough to 9 total points in the second half. WMS took the lead late in the fourth but were unable to hold on in the closing minute of play. Bri Duque was on fire from behind the arc, hitting 4 threes from downtown, leading all scorers with 12. Thelma Ikejibe chipped in with 9 points of her own and double digit rebounds.

Come cheer on the girls this Friday as they take on the winner of Montgomery vs Clinton in the second round of the playoffs.

Congratulations to eighth graders, Aadya Bhushan and Erich Dong for their outstanding performance in Saturday’s National History Challenge. Aadya and Erich joined two Watchung Hills High School students and competed in the high school division of the competition. The team advanced to the playoffs and were named semi finalists in the event. Way to go, team!

For anyone interested in playing baseball this year, there will be a meeting before school on Wednesday, 2/1 at 7:40 in the library.

Spring sports sign-ups have begun on Genesis. Be sure to sign up for a spring sport if you are interested and then make sure that you have the required sports physical paperwork into the health office to be cleared to play. Deadline for sports physical is March 1st.
