Graphic Novel Readers and Writers Club. Manga, Superheroes and More  (PM Club)

Students will have the opportunity to read, discuss and even create their own graphic novel. Please come with your favorite graphic novel to read or swap with others. We will have time to learn how to write a graphic novel story and/or create characters that can be used in future stories. Each student will decide their own learning path for the time spent in this club.

Algebra Help Club (PM Club)

Do you need help? This is a "drop-in" club offered to students currently enrolled in Algebra at WMS. Come hang out with us in a relaxing setting where you can do your homework with your friends, or get extra help on something you had trouble with in class or on a test.

Art Crew (PM Club)

The Art Crew Club will be for students who want to help enhance the Middle School with their art work. Students will work each week to research, design, and execute different pieces of art/displays that they will see throughout the building. By giving students choices in the type of art they want to display, they will become more proud of their school and hopefully encourage others to get creative as well.

Art Magazine (PM Club)

If you love to create art and want to see it published on our school website than this is the place for you. In Art Magazine we work as a group to write, draw, paint and design our very own magazine. Come learn about publishing and how a deisgn studio runs. Work with other students to create a magazine filled with your art.

Astronomy and the Night Sky (PM Club)

Do you know how fast you are moving through space, or how far away from Earth the closest star is? If you are curious about what's in the sky besides birds and airplanes, come join us. We will learn how to locate celestial objects in the night sky, watch for meteor showers, follow developments from NASA, and much more! Open to 8th graders.

Back Stage Club (PM Club)

The students in the backstage club will learn to operate all audio and lighting equipment necessary for various school functions.

Board Games (PM Club)

The goal of the Board Game Club is to promote socialization, build self-esteem and practice communication skills between special education and non-special education students. Emphasis is placed on appropriate interaction between students through playing a wide array of board games.

Buddy to Buddy (PM Club)

This club provides an extension to the Character Education curriculum. The objective is to increase awareness and tolerance of students with disabilities, especially autism. Students will partner with students from the DLC and students at WMS. We will have pen pals, visits to each others' schools, guest speakers, games, activities, projects, and community service.

Ceramics (PM Club)

If you love art and especially love working with your hands than this is the club for you. Students will have the opportunity to learn clay techniques, study art movements and develop skills which they can apply to the creation of pots and sculptures.

Chess Club Adventures (PM Club)

Chess Club Adventures is for students who already know how to play chess and who enjoy pairing up with peers to play a match. This is a club of friendly competitive fun where sportsmanship and kindness are expected. Chess club members will have an opportunity to travel after school to the Dean of Chess facility in Branchburg to learn chess from International Master, Dean Ippolito (optional trip/date to be determined). Also a chess afternoon will take place on November 5th after school where middle schoolers play with ALT elementary school players in a cross grade experience. Additionally, the high school chess team may visit the after school club sessions occasionally to build rapport with the middle school chess players so they can create a larger cadre of chess players in the community. It’s a CHESS ADVENTURE!!

Crafts Club  (PM Club)

Crafts Club is a fun way for students to express their creativity and make friends while crafting. Crafts will explore themes such as culture, science, and social studies. Through these crafts, students learn background information about each of these themes. Students will be encouraged to share crafts with their peers. This club is also an opportunity for students to meet new friends.

Crochet and Create (PM Club)

Students will learn the fundamentals of crocheting. Anyone can join, whether they are beginners or already know how to crochet. Come and make scrunchies, hats, blankets, or whatever your creativity inspires. Some projects will be donated to a local charity.

Debate, Law and Thinking Games Club (PM Club)

Do you like to argue and discuss things? Do you like hot topics? Do you like to think outside the box? Do you like fun thinking games? As a former lawyer, I can teach you how to truly advocate and discuss sensitive and timely issues with intelligence and support for your position. We will also play fun games to teach you to think analytically. This is your club and we can pursue your interests!

Diversity Club (PM Club)

Do you think that all people deserve to be treated equally and that differences are what make us unique? If yes, then the Diversity club is for you. The goal of the club is to promote diversity, cultural awareness and give support to students and staff on multicultural issues in the middle school. Students in this club will work with the Diversity Club at Watchung Hills Regional High School. In addition, students will attend a half day student leadership conference at Kean University.

Fitness & Wellness Club (PM Club)

The Fitness & Wellness club will incorporate fun fitness workouts and information about health education! Students will have the opportunity to use our new fitness center at Warren Middle School and be able to learn how to use the machines and incorporate fitness circuits to enhance their healthy lifestyles.

Forensics (PM Club)

Forensics Club is a fun way to help interested students develop their public speaking skills. Activities will include learning about fundamental forensics events such as Declamation, Duo Interpretation and Extemporaneous and Expository Speaking (to name a few), plus a detailed look at how to prepare a written piece and activities to help students become effective communicators, performers and speakers. The first 15 weeks will focus on the fundamentals of public speaking. The remainder of the year will continue with students who have the interest and skills to compete.

Jazz Band (AM Club)

Jazz band is a combination of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. It is a great opportunity to learn to play in a Jazz style and improvise. Students will sign up to audition for the Jazz band on any of the following instruments: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drumset. Each student that signs up will receive audition music to prepare for a guide audition. Jazz band is a great opportunity to play some fun exciting music in an additional ensemble.

Mindfulness for Middle School Students (PM Club)

Participants will learn what mindfulness is. They will learn how emotions both positive and negative can impact their relationships with family and friends. They will learn how to use mindfulness to be aware of what is happening within them and around them with a clear focus of attention on moment-to-moment experience to enable them to be fully present for life. And finally, be able to use mindfulness to help cope with stress and anxiety.

Morning Chorus Club (AM Club)

Morning Chorus Club is open to 7th and 8th grade chorus members to provide an opportunity for chorus students involved in the band or orchestra (or other scheduling conflict) to have extra chorus time each week.

Music Club (PM Club)

Music Club is open to anyone who loves music! Do you like writing your own songs or want to learn how? Do you want to learn more about your favorite musicians or musical styles? Do you want to play fun music games? Do you want to learn how to perform body percussion or just sing for fun? Then this is the club for you! This club is open to anyone at WMS, you don't have to sing in the chorus or play an instrument. Come join in the fun!

Pep Club (PM Club)

Do you like to plan parties and events? Are you someone who loves fun? If so, come out and join the Pep Club. We plan and run school-wide events to make WMS a fun, lively and spirited place! Some of our previous events include a Halloween Costume Contest, a Thanksgiving Turkey Hunt and Find the Leprechaun's gold. The Pep Club decides which events to hold, so if you want a say in fun things happening around school, the Pep Club is for you!

Ping pong club (PM Club)

The ping pong club is open to all grade levels and skill levels. Students new to the game will learn the rules, scoring and other basics, while more experienced players can compete in match play and possibly a tournament. All materials are provided and students may bring their own equipment as well.

SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club (PM Club)

The SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club is a nationwide club that was created in 2017 due to the continued violence and mass shootings in America. This club is a place to work with other students on developing ideas and activities to promote a more positive, conflict free school. Students will be working with Sandy Hook Promise and will share ideas with peers from other schools across the United States.

STS (PM Club)

The STS club is an opportunity for students to come and expand upon their interests in the technology field. Here they will learn about careers, InfoSec, all products used at school as well as software they will need for the real world. They will also learn to be successful help-desk techs and will help staff and students with PC issues.

Student Cam (PM Club)

Do you like to make movies? Are you a creative person? This club will be creating documentary films which will be entered into a national contest. Perhaps our documentary will win a prize! So get your lights, camera and action ready for a fun and interesting club!

Thursday Homework Help Club (PM Club)

Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will receive assistance in completing homework assignments. Students will complete assignments in a timely fashion to achieve their academic goals.

Tuesday Homework Help Club (PM Club)

Mr. Ticchio and Mrs. Scully will provide a quiet and supportive environment for students of all grades to receive help with organizing their materials, working on homework or projects and studying for assessments. Students will be encouraged to work independently or (if appropriate) with a partner. Both advisors will be in touch with the students' classroom teachers as needed to help ensure assignments are completed.

Wednesday Homework Help (PM Club)

Mr. Ticchio will provide a quiet and supportive environment for students to work on homework and projects after school. The supervisor will help students as needed in their academic subject areas and will coordinate with their teachers as appropriate.

Wolverine Book Club (PM Club)

Please join this Book Club and share the joys of reading with others. We will choose our own books to read and share, and have the opportunity to lead others in discussion. Students will work on becoming more confident readers through mutual interests.

World Travelers Club (PM Club)

The World Travelers Club is perfect for students who are interested in learning about other cultures. Students will get to choose places of interest from around the world to discover the unique styles of music, foods, important historical information, and fun facts too! Students are encouraged to share previous travel experiences or to research new places they hope to visit one day.

Yoga Club (PM Club)

Yoga club offers students an opportunity to learn and practice yoga together. It is a chance to slow down and learn the basic yoga poses, which help reduce stress and increase flexibility and strength. We will also focus on other aspects of the yoga practice such as mindfulness and meditation. Yoga club is a great way to dedicate one afternoon a week to your health and well being.
