Back Stage Club (PM Club)

The students in the backstage club will learn to operate all audio and lighting equipment necessary for various school functions.

Beginner/ Intermediate Guitar Club (PM Club)

Goals: tune guitar/change strings/basic repair; learn/play basic guitar chord formations; be able to accompany oneself playing an easy pop song; play single line melodies (either reading music notes or guitar Tablature (TAB). Students can access free guitar shareware to learn songs on their chromebooks, to keep them focused and actively engaged during the entire period. Each student will get individual help as needed.

Board Games Club (PM Club)

Students will meet weekly to play board games. Social skills lessons will be conducted at the beginning of the club and then reinforced during the games.

Buddy to Buddy (PM Club)

This club provides an extension to the Character Education curriculum. The objective is to increase awareness and tolerance of students with disabilities. Students will partner with students at WMS. We have guest speakers, games, activities, projects, and community service.

Crochet and Create (PM Club)

Crochet and Create is designed for boys and girls, grades 6,7 & 8, no matter what their ability level. In this club, we will work at our own individual level to crochet and create many beautiful projects. We will start out with scrunchies and later create hats, scarves, shawls, and blankets. You will have fun while you learn to crochet if you join this class.

Diversity Club (PM Club)

Do you think that all people deserve to be treated equally and that differences are what make us unique? If yes, then the Diversity club is for you. The goal of the club is to promote diversity, cultural awareness and give support to students and staff on multicultural issues in the middle school. Students in this club will work with the Diversity Club at Watchung Hills Regional High School.

Grade 7 WMS Competitive Forensics Team (PM Club)

Forensics is the study and practice of public speaking. WMS Competitive Forensics Club offers a challenging venue for students to learn and practice speech and research skills to inform, entertain or persuade an audience in a competitive setting. Majority of activities will focus on fundamental forensics events such as Declamation, Duo Interpretation, Humor and Extemporaneous and Expository Speaking (to name a few), plus a detailed look at how to prepare a written piece for a variety of competitions throughout the school year. This club is not designed to meet on a regular weekly basis, but rather to accommodate competition deadlines. Our first few club meetings will take place after school on Thursdays. Later on in the year, club meetings will be scheduled based on upcoming competitions to maximize preparation time. Students are expected to prepare forensics pieces independently and with arranged support of the advisors. Competitions will take place possibly during school, after school or on evenings. Students will pay all fees associated with each event they choose to participate.

Homework Help - Tuesday (PM Club)

Mrs. Plesmid and Mrs. Scully will provide a quiet and supportive environment for students of all grades to receive help with organizing their materials, working on homework or projects and studying for assessments. Students will be encouraged to work independently or (if appropriate) with a partner. Both advisors will be in touch with the students' classroom teachers as needed to help ensure assignments are completed.

Jazz Band (AM Club)

Jazz band is a combination of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. It is a great opportunity to learn to play in a Jazz style and improvise. Students will sign up to audition for the Jazz band on any of the following instruments: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drumset. Each student that signs up will receive audition music to prepare for a WIN period audition. Jazz band is a great opportunity to play some fun exciting music in an additional ensemble.

Students will participate in a parade style marching band and learn basic marching and playing techniques, which will culminate in participation in the Memorial Day Parade in town

Music/Singing Club (PM Club)

Music/Singing Club is the perfect club for students who love to sing and love music! We will sing, play music games, and participate in many other music related activities! Students who are in the chorus, but also play an instrument in band or orchestra are strongly encouraged to join our club but all are welcome to participate!

NJ History Day/National History Day Club (PM Club)

The New Jersey History Day program is an affiliate of National History Day (NHD), an exciting education program that engages students in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics. Either individually or in a group, students present their historical research on a topic related to the competition’s annual theme in the form of a performance, exhibit, documentary, website, or paper. These projects are then evaluated at local, regional, and state competitions that culminate in a national contest every June at the University of Maryland, College Park. Ping Pong Club (PM Club)

The ping pong club is open to all grade levels and skill levels. Students new to the game will learn the rules, scoring and other basics, while more experienced players can compete in match play and possibly a tournament. All materials are provided and students may bring their own equipment as well.

Sports Club (PM Club)

The Sports Club is a club for students who want more physical activity to do after school. This club is for those students who don’t want to go home and be lazy, bored, or just play video games. For those students that want to try different sports/activities/fitness, this is the club for you!

STS (PM Club)

Students will learn the concepts of Coding, Virtual Reality, Cyber Security, and logic/robotics. Students will have the opportunity to do hands-on learning in order to master these topics. Opportunities to learn about the industry from industry professionals and students from the High School will be available.

Sudoku Club (PM Club)

Do you like to solve puzzles? You’ll love sudoku. This is a puzzle in which numbers 1 to 9 are used to fill a 9 by 9 grid of squares which are subdivided into 3 by 3 boxes so that every row, every column, and every box contains the numbers 1 through 9. There will be puzzles for every ability level, and you’ll be helped along the way so that you can succeed. Come on, give it a try.

Mrs. Decelle will provide a quiet and supportive environment for students of all grades to receive help with organizing their materials, working on homework or projects, and studying for assessments. VOICE (AM Club)

VOICE serves as an alternative outlet for students to express their emotions and creativity through poetry. In VOICE we will study and utilize the various types of poetry as well as their elements. NOTE: This club has been running since September; new students are welcome!

WMS Book Club (PM Club)

The WMS Book Club will meet to read, discuss, and enjoy all kinds of books. Members will be free to select their own book titles or receive guidance in book selection. Readers may even choose a general topic in order for members to share and learn more about that topic. Other activities that embrace the books' topics will also be welcomed. Students will be encouraged to take a leadership role in the club if interested.

WMS PEACE Club (PM Club)

WMS PEACE Club (P = Participation in community building activities, E = Empathy for others, A = Advocacy in making a positive change in the community, C = Community connections, E = Empowering others to foster peace) is a middle school club that engages 8th-grade students in roles that develop a variety of age-appropriate community service skills to support P.E.A.C.E. in our community. Students will participate in service projects, information sessions, special guest speaker presentations, outreach projects and will serve the Warren community by: 1. Promoting peace through healthy lifestyles and community service activities. 2. Working closely as a member of the WMS Peace Club to create positive change. 3. Connecting with other Warren students, staff, and the Warren community in productive ways. 4. Modelling appropriate behavior, goal setting, and the pillars of character. Club meetings, activities, and projects will adhere to the social distancing rules. PEACE Club will meet on Wednesdays during lunch & WIN and possibly different days during and after school as necessary for trips, activities, speakers, etc, which will be determined later on. PEACE Club is a club that takes place mostly during school hours.
