Morning Announcements
WMS Daily Student Wellness Check should be completed everyday by 7:35 AM.
Congratulations to the Warren Middle School Forensics Team for their amazing showing at last night’s Cotter Middle School Forensics Tournament in Winona, Minnesota - virtually, of course!
Honorable Mentions go to Avi Gupta, Sania Shareef, Bodhi Lee, Selina Zhan, Jay Dhiman and Ethan Chen.
These students placed in a series of categories:
For Humorous interpretation - Ben Phan, Avery Thomasson & Ethan Liu
For Poetry Reading - Melinda Xu
For Great Speeches - Arin Harkawat, Trisha Atianzar and Season Wei and Maya Wishnia
For Prose Reading, Grace Prayias
Our students prepared for weeks for this competition and brought distinction and honor to their school! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Tuesday was Read Across America Day! Throughout the week, teachers and administrators will be visiting classrooms and roaming the hallways to try to “catch” students reading. Any students “caught” reading will be given a coupon. If you get a coupon, fill it in and drop it off in the basket by your exit door at the end of the day to be entered into a prize drawing. If you are in Cohort D, take a picture of yourself reading and email it to Ms. Cassidy to be entered into the contest virtually! The prize winners will be announced next week! Good luck and spend some time reading today!
Attendance and Instructional Model Reminders
Students are expected to attend in-person school on their assigned days. When they are unable to attend in-person school, parents must request a child absence in the Genesis Parent Portal. An absence should be requested for a child in any cohort that cannot participate in school on a given day. You can access this feature on the Summary Screen of the Student Data tab. Detailed instructions can be found here. Teachers will follow district procedures for make up work for absent students. Switching from in-person school to distance learning is not a daily option. Any parent wishing to request a change to a student’s instructional model may do so by completing this form. Please note that Board of Education policy requires parents to give a minimum of 30 days’ notice for a requested instructional model change.
