ASAP Program

Accelerating Student Academic Progress!

What is ASAP? The ASAP Program offers assistance and support in Language
Arts and Math to elementary students in grades 1 through 5. The program may
have short term goals only or both long and short term goals.

Where is ASAP instruction? Instruction is offered using two different methods: In-class support with the ASAP teacher working with small groups within the classroom setting; and/or out-of-class support with the ASAP teacher working with a small group in a small group instruction room.

When is ASAP instruction? Students are usually given support every other day for 30 minutes. The time may increase according to student needs and staff
availability. The LLI program is one that students meet 5 days a week for approximately 45 minutes.

Why is ASAP instruction provided? Students may need extra support to master the grade level goals in Language Arts and Math. Small groups allow the teacher to provide instruction at the child’s level with maximum participation from the child.

How are students chosen for the ASAP program? Students are selected based on assessments given to the grade level at the beginning of the year AND teacher recommendation. A recommendation may also come from the Intervention and Referral Service comprised of Mount Horeb School Staff. Parents are informed and consulted regarding the outcomes of student testing and eligibility for the offered program.
