Who is Mrs. Green

Welcome to a new school year!

My name is Mrs. Laurie Green. I have been a teacher in Warren since 1997. I began my tenure in the district at ALT for one year. I then spent the rest of my time at Central School until my moving to Mt. Horeb in September 2014.

I graduated with honors, from Penn State with a degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. I knew in first grade that I wanted to be a teacher and my dream came true! I have had many influential teachers in my life, with whom I still keep in touch with. I hope to also be an important part of my students' lives and make a difference.....with some, I think I already have!

I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher, working full-time at that level until 2004 when I had my daughter, Emily. I took several years off to raise her and her sister Ashley whom I had in 2005. When I returned to Central School, it was still in the capacity of first grade teacher, but part-time through a very unique opportunity, A JOB SHARE! I worked alongside of Mrs. O'Donnell for several years teaching the class on Wednesday afternoons with Mrs. O'Donnell, then all day Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs. O'Donnell taught all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was truly an AMAZING experience for all those involved!

When we decided to end our job share, I still wanted to be home part-time with my family which now had our third addition, Hailey, born in 2010. Being home with my children and here at school with the children whom I also consider "mine" offered me the best of both worlds! In order to have the BEST, I accepted the ASAP position which was at that time, three days a week. This also helped with the busy life of Mrs. Green, aka Mommy, to four children, since our son Brandon was born in 2011.

I now teach grades 3 thru 5 Language Arts, five days a week at Mt Horeb, while also teaching reading each morning at Central School.
