Notice of Special Education Records Destruction

Notice of Special Education Records Destruction

The Warren Township Board of Education intends to destroy certain special education records for pupils with birth years before 2000. According to the Department of Education, school districts are required to retain these records for 5 or 7 years after high school graduation, depending on specific factors. The destruction of these records is scheduled for October 1, 2024.

We are notifying former students that you have the option to retrieve your special education records or request their destruction. Please note that if you do not respond to this notice, your special education records will be destroyed and will not be available in the future.

To schedule an appointment for pickup, please contact the Special Services Department by September 27, 2024. You can reach us at (908) 753-5300 x5705 or email mwiecek@warrentboe.org. All requests for records require 72 hours' prior notice. A signature and photo ID will be required to release these records to you.
