Character Education

At the Angelo L. Tomaso School, staff and students alike are enthusiastic about the implementation of the district-wide Character Education Curriculum, which was developed by the Warren Township Guidance Department.  This collective program was designed to help promote academic and social growth within a safe and positive learning environment.  Throughout the school year, informative guidance lessons will be offered to students at all grade levels, about positive decision making, problem solving, communication, and social skills development.  Classroom teachers will provide opportunities to practice and reinforce these beneficial skills, using prompts and cues throughout the school day.

During September and October, students at A.L.T. actively participate in a series of classroom-based guidance lessons focusing on the concepts of bullying and bullying prevention.  Students learned the school-wide rules against bullying, how to take a stand against bullying, and important reporting procedures.  In addition, the “Week of Respect” and the “Week of Making Good Choices” took place in October.  These celebration weeks offered students an opportunity to participate in enjoyable school-wide activities to help reinforce fundamental anti-bullying concepts and promote a positive school climate.  A.L.T. students have shared positive feedback about these interactive learning experiences.

I am very excited to continue teaching students the tools to navigate social and academic situations, while empowering respectful and positive choices.  I look forward to working with all students and staff at the Angelo L. Tomaso School to facilitate as safe and positive learning environment.
