Tips for a Healthy School Year:
1. Wash hands!! Encouraging good handwashing is the simplest and easiest way to prevent the spread of illness this year. Teach your children to thouroughly wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, about the time it takes to sing the ABC song twice. Hand Sanitizers are convenient and are intended to be used when soap is unavailable and not as a substitute for soap and water.
2. Sneeze etiquette:To prevent the spread of germs, have your child cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or to sneeze into their upper sleeve or elbow and not into their hands. Throw the tissue away, and of course instruct them to wash their hands with soap and water or use a sanitizer. This is a simple yet effective way to prevent the spread of illness.
3. Sleep: Encourage a good nights sleep about 9-12 hours for elementary students. Once they are awake, they need a healthy breakfast to start their day.
