Aliens and Astronauts

Meghan McCarthy is our visiting author this year. In preparation for her visit, this club will make cut paper collages to decorate the hallways and library. Meghan writes nonfiction books about many topics, including aliens and astronauts, so there is a plethora of topics from which to choose when deciding upon decorations to make. This will be an art club with a purpose.

Acapella Club

This club will teach students proper vocal techniques as well as how to: create and sing in harmony, maintain an individual vocal line, use just their bodies and voices to create music, and to work together. The goal is to give the students opportunities for a public performance, such as a performance at a Spring concert, talent show, a board or PTO meeting, or work with Karen Sutherland to potentially add on to one of her shows.

We will spend a portion of our meeting learning about classic music writers from the 60's and 70's (history) and then learn to play chords to build to an easy song by the artist. This is for beginners only.

Girls Running Club

This a program for girls in grades 4-5 that seeks to inspire girls to be healthy and confident using a fun lesson curriculum which integrates running. Girls will have fun training for the Girls on the Run 5K race in June while making friends and learning about themselves. The emphasis is not on running but on having fun. The girls are encouraged to set goals and meet them by walking, running, skipping or a combination of all three.

This club will allow students to utilize archery and the skills involved in its performance to enhance students abilities and foster a lifetime activity. Please note that students who are initially accepted will receive a waiver form for parents to complete prior to full acceptance into the club.Waivers are mandatory for participation. Maximum of 20 students.
