Good news for you today! Due to technical difficulty with the assigned links for today, I am making it

FREE CHOICE FRIDAY!

  • Read a fiction book of your choice either from your bag, from Epic or from your bookshelf at home.
  • Answer the following questions in your journal:
  • 1) What is the problem in the story? Example: The problem in the story was.....
  • 2) How was the problem solved? Example: The problem was solved when........
  • 3) What was your favorite part in the story and why? Example: My favorite part was when.......

I would rather live in the country because it is peaceful and quiet. Also, in the country, I get to see lots of colorful flowers and plants.

FID trip day!
Today, you are expected to
  1. Check in for attendance, as usual
  2. Read for 25 minutes
  3. Participate in your specials/Spanish class (if you have Spanish today)

  5. The only staff members responding to email today will be the librarians

2nd Grade:

  • Reread a book of your choice (one that we have already read)
  • Read City Mouse and Country Mouse by clicking on this link: Link to read City Mouse and Country Mouse To turn the pages scroll down with the arrow key or scroll down with your cursor. . Do not read the play yet. 
  • Read my book introduction here first to your child: “When City Mouse visited her friend Country Mouse at her home in the country, she didn’t like the food or the beds in the country. Then Country Mouse went to the city to visit City Mouse. She didn’t like the people and the traps in the city, but she did like the food. Read to find out what happens that makes Country Mouse happy to be home.” Take a look before the pictures before you read. 
  • Try this building short i words activity.  Watch my video for directions by clicking on this link: link
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 22 (Review with th,sh,ch only columns three and four). Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page. 

 1st Grade:

  • Reread a book of your choice from your bag (one that we have already read).
  • Read Down by the Pond from your bag Look through the pictures first and read this book introduction aloud to your child: “Read this book to find out about some animals that live down by the pond. You will learn how some of these animals get food and how others protect themselves down by the pond.” Make sure to use your fluency checklist, “How did I sound? to self-evaluate your fluency. Make your voice sound interesting when you’re reading.
  • In your journal write about two or three animals that live down by the pond and write what they do there. For example, A turtle crawls out of the pond to lay her eggs on the ground. Remember to write the book title and the date at the top of the page.

  •  Watch Mrs. Braunstein’s April 13th message by clicking on this link: April 13th message and playing the video.
  • Read Princess Pig and the Necklace by clicking on this link: Link to Princess Pig and the Necklace  
  • Before reading Princess Pig and the Necklace, look through the pictures, but stop after page 11 so you don't spoil the ending. Spoiler alert!
  • During reading, make sure to self-evaluate your fluency using the How Did I Sound checklist in your folder.  In addition, make predictions and revise those predictions as you are reading.
  • After reading, discuss only the most important parts from the beginning, middle and end with an adult. 
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 22 (Review with th,sh,ch only columns one and two). Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page. 
  • Enjoy this video: Fortnite Sight Words 2 as a way to practice your sight words.

  • Read Skunks by clicking on this link: Link to read Skunks Don’t forget to look through the pictures and the glossary first. 
  • After you finish reading, discuss the words in the glossary with an adult. Tell an adult three new things you learned about skunks.
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 9 (Review a,i,o,u,ee,ay). Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page.
