2nd Grade:

  • Reread the first part of What’s in the Sky independently. Reread the Introduction, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.
  • Click here for the second grade read aloud, What’s in the Sky part 2. Send me a video response on Flipgrid by pressing the green button and recording your response. Share with me three interesting things you learned while reading this book. 
  • Enjoy this video: Fortnite sight words as a way to practice some sight words.

Share with me your favorite part of the story and why you liked it.

2nd Grade:

  • Reread A Dog’s Best Friend.
  • Join me in a read aloud using the book, What’s in the Sky?  Click here for the Second Grade Read Aloud  Grab your book and read along with me. 
  • In your journal, write one fact that you learned about the moon. For example, I learned that earth only has one moon, but Jupiter has 16 moons! Also,write one fact that you learned about the stars. For example, I learned that stars are in the sky even during the day, but we can only see them at night.
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 22 (review with th, sh, ch) but ONLY do the first column . Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page. 

1st Grade:

  • Reread Puppies for Rosie using this link Puppies for Rosie and then Click the READ ONLINE button (speech bubble in white) to view. Press the arrows to turn the pages.
  • In your journal, write about your favorite part of Puppies For Rosie. For example, My favorite part of Puppies for Rosie was when the puppies made a puddle on Daisy’s pillow because I liked the look on Rosie and Bella's faces. 
  • Join me in a read aloud using the book, Who Loves Getting Wet? Grab your book and read along with me.

  • After listening, draw a picture or write about where and when you love to get wet. 
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 8 (ee). Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page.

  • Reread A Dog’s Best Friend and answer the following questions in your journal (Answer by turning the question around):
  1. How did Niles feel when Crumley moved into the building? Start your answer like this: Niles felt ___________when Crumley moved into the building because_________________________________________________________.
  2. What was Niles plan to get rid of Crumley? Start your answer like this: Niles ____________________________________________ to try to get rid of Crumley. 
  • Time yourself reading the words on word list Level 20 (or, all). Record the date and your time on the bottom of the page. Did you beat Thursday’s time? (If you wish, preview these songs in the links below before you practice your words.)

  • Reread Fighting Fires. Make sure to reread any parts that are tricky or do not make sense. 
  • Write about two ways that firefighters put out fires. Number each answer. Start each answer like this: (Follow my example below)
  1. Firefighters use tank trucks filled with water from pools or ponds to put out fires.

2nd Grade:

  • Reread Hide and Seek. Have fun with your reading and try to act out the different characters while you are reading. 
  • Have a discussion with an adult about Hide and Seek and discuss the problem and the solution. Also, if you were Moosling, where would you hide?
  • Read A Dog’s Best Friend by Gare Thompson.Try your best with the characters’ names, but if you get stuck, ask an adult for help. Don't forget to think about the story as you are reading. make predictions about what you think will happen next. Jot two predictions in your journal as you are reading. 

1st Grade:

  • Reread Pop, Pop, Popcorn. Retell the story to an adult including the most important things that happened in the beginning, middle and end. 
  • Read Fighting Fires. Before you read it, jot three things in your journal that you already know about how firefighters fight fires. After that, do a book preview, looking carefully at all the pictures. Have mom or dad help you with any difficult vocabulary before you start reading. 
  • Complete the following activity: (use the link for the cut-out letters or write the words directly on the sheet, your choice
