Homework Policy

Back to school on a chalk board
How Much Time Should a Student Spend on Homework?

Assignments collectively should take no longer than 30-40 minutes of actual working time.  If students have worked for beyond 40 minutes or are exhibiting a great deal of anxiety, please stop them from working and write a note explaining that your child was having difficulty and we will review the material the following day.  Students should also engage in a minimum of 15 minutes of independent reading each night.

Homework Principles:

~Homework will be assigned when it serves a purpose and reinforces learning.

~Homework will relate to classwork.

~We will be sensitive and make allowances when scheduling tests and assignments on religious holidays and days immediately following religious holidays.

Make-Up Work:

Missed assignments and tests must be made up by the student.  The number of days absent is equal to the number of days the student has to make up all assignments.  According to district policy, teachers are not to provide advance work.

If a student is absent 2 or more consecutive days, please call the office to request assignments.  Assignments will be left in the office or sent home with a designated student.
