October 31- Halloween Parade at 2:15pm
November 4, 6,7- schools are closed
Reading: Being a Reader: We continue to use the Turn and Talk Strategy with a partner and making connections to the books that are read aloud to them. We are learning new vocabulary words such as welcome, excited, lonely, greet, snatch, and comfort. Ask your child about these words! Small group reading has begun. We also will continue to work on color words.
High Frequency Words: Please review their word wall journals each night. They should be able to recognize and read these words.
Handwriting: We are learning to correctly form upper and lower case letters, the sounds they make and the motion that goes along with each word (to help us remember). Please reinforce that letters are formed from the top down and not the bottom up.
Math: We are learning to write, count and compare numbers from 0-10. We are using words such as greater than, less than and equal to to compare.
Science/Social Studies: You will see Let's Find Out magazines coming home with various topics from bats, to life cycle of a pumpkin to how to be a good friend. We also use Mystery Science to learn about the world around us. This week we are focusing on bats and echolocation as well as when candy was invented!
