Homework

Children in the ASAP Reading Room will be asked to read at home each day. Your child will bring home one or more books daily; which should be read with minimal assistance. In addition, your child may bring home a decodable reading folder to read. Look for the post-it note that says, "Homework," which will be placed on the reading passage of the day. Feel free to read any previously read passages for extra practice.

Reading familiar books boosts fluency, stamina, and confidence. If you notice your child bring home a book that has been previously assigned as homework, this was done to build one of the aforementioned skills.

Please sign the daily home reading log and return the book and log in your child's folder the next school day. As well, please ensure that all books are returned each day; as they are used daily in class.

In addition to book reading, your child will bring home a small Sight Word booklet. Please practice reading and spelling the words in the booklet each day. The words that need extra practice will have a post - it note placed on the word page.
