 Balanced Literacy:

First Grade:

Reading - Students are working on reading CVC words fluently. We are also working on adding endings to words )-s, -ing). Students are also working on individual guided reading books. Please look for these books to come home. Students can read the books to a family member and return them within a few days. I hope you enjoy listening to them read!!! They are so proud of themselves and I'm so proud of them!

Writing - We are still working on writing complete sentences and using proper word order when generating our own sentences. I'm really proud of the progress everyone has made with their handwriting.

 

Math: 

First Grade: 

Students are working on understanding and solving math word problems that involve addition and subtraction. Understanding what the question is asking can be difficult for students who struggle with comprehension. We are working on this skill daily, as well as practicing addition and subtraction facts. 

 

 Homework:

As of now, no homework will be assigned. However, it would be great to read to your child daily!
