Christine L. Smith will join the Warren Township School District as the new principal of Angelo L. Tomaso School, effective July 1, 2016.

The Board of Education approved Smith’s appointment at its June 6 meeting.   Smith, who is currently principal of Memorial Middle School in Spotswood, will succeed Kathryn Bond, who retires after 18 years as ALT principal at the end of the month.

For 13 years, Smith was a general education teacher, academic support teacher and interventionist at Village Elementary School in Montgomery Township before assuming a supervisory role in Hillsborough Township in September 2011 as Vice Principal of Auten Road Intermediate School.  She became principal at Memorial Middle School, where she also serves as District Anti-Bullying Coordinator, in July 2014.

Ms. Smith will be visiting ALT in the near future at a date to be determined.  She will work with Ms. Bond to ensure a smooth transition for staff, students, and parents.
