New immunizations update

New Immunization Requirements

Fifth grade students - As of September 1, 2008 it is required by the New Jersey Dept. of Health, N.J.A.C. 8:57-4.20 that all children born on or after January 1, 1997 entering Grade 6 will be required to receive a booster dose of Tetanus, diphetheria, and pertussis (Tdap) and one dose of the Meningococcal vaccine. Please make arrangements with your physician to have these vaccines administered prior to starting Middle School in September. If your child has turned 11years old at this time, please make arrangements to have these vaccines given and submit the documentation to the health office as soon as possible. If you plan to have these vaccines given in late spring but before June, please submit the MD documentation to the health office. Having this immunization documentation in the health office ASAP will alleviate any issues of entering 6th grade in September.

Otherwise, all vaccine documentation should go to the MIddle School nurse over the summer.

Preschool Students : As of September 1, 2008 all children from two to 59 months of age attending preschool facilities will receive pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. Also, one annual dose of influenza vaccine given by December 31st of each year will be required. Please make arrangements with your physician to have this done prior to the start of school. Students who do not receive the vaccine by December 31st will be excluded from school for the duration of the influenza season (through March 31st) or until they receive at least one dose of the influenza vaccine or until they age out of the requirement (once they turn 5 years/60 months).
