In fourth grade, students are becoming more accountable for their own learning.  Here is some important information to help families feel connected:

  • Family Letters will be emailed to parents at the start of each lesson. Background information, math vocabulary, and an activity are provided for each lesson.  The information will help you to share in your child’s math learning. Thank you for your support at home!

  • Teacher Webpage: Lesson schedule and assessment dates are posted here and updated frequently.

  • Lesson Quizzes will be given at the end of each lesson and will be announced in advance on my teacher Webpage and in class. Quizzes will be graded and sent home for a parent signature.

  • Unit Tests may be given at the end of each unit. Unit Review days may take the place of tests.
  • Homework  - Practice pages follow each lesson, and can be torn out of student workbooks and completed at home for extra practice (optional homework)
  • iReady path: Students are required to complete 45 minutes per week. Some time is allotted in class, but students are expected to complete these minutes as homework as needed. A schedule of 10-15 minutes three times per week at home is encouraged.  Individualized lessons are provided based on student progress.
  • Fluency Flight:  Math Facts Fluency Program:  By following the game-based approach four days a week, roughly eight minutes a day, students move through four stages of fluency for unique sets of math facts. As students make progress, the games and feedback adjust to maximize the learning at each stage.  Time is provided in class to meet these expectations, but Fluency Flight can be accessed at home when needed.
  • Keeping track of path minutes: Ask your child to log in to their iReady account. Click on My Progress on the bottom of the screen. This page tracks the minutes completed for the week.
